This is what I did today: it’s an invitation to a post-concert reception to celebrate the conductor’s birthday (yes, the same one I drew here and here… and here*).The text will go in between the lines.
It looks deceptively simple but took a LOT of thought to find something which could contain the text AND (logical) movement at the same time. By logical, I mean something that makes sense to this occasion. Birthday cake, balloons and singing could all do the job, but don’t really belong to a champagne reception at the Royal Albert Hall.
So, a day in the life of an illustrator: several hours of bad ideas then the lightbulb moment: clinking glasses raised in a toast.
*Other conductors are illustratable.
